Cyber security has been identified as a strategic focus of the French Minister of  Defense and Prime Minister. Due to the stakes and the possible consequences of attacks on equipment and information systems, cyber-security appears as a national priority for the operators of the Nation (civil  and military).

The French Naval Academy, Naval Group, THALES and IMT Atlantique  have  established, for more than twenty years, a tradition of scientific exchanges and collaborations in the fields of naval systems, information systems and telecommunications. The four partners thus created, in October 2014, with the support of the French MoD, a chair in the field of the cyber defense of naval systems.

In this presentation, we will present the chair of cyber defense of naval systems, the particular context of work related to the maritime environment, its activities and its results, both for R & D and  education.

Yvon Kermarrec is Professor of Computer Science at IMT Atlantique and was chairman of a  research department LUSSI (Logics of Use, Social Sciences and Information Science) and member of the board of directors. His research and teaching activities are related to distributed systems, software engineering, reliability and security. He was a researcher at Courant Institute of New York University, a software architect with Raytheon (Vancouver) before joining Telecom ParisTech and Telecom Bretagne.

He is currently assigned  to the Naval Academy, where he coordinates the research activities of the chair of cyber defense of naval systems in relation with the partners and the French Navy.
